Xantrex™ launches next generation inverter/charger for off-grid and backup power applications

BERLIN, GERMANY, October 23, 2008 – Xantrex Technology Inc., a subsidiary of Schneider Electric, announces the launch of its latest product for the European solar power market: the Xantrex XW Inverter/Charger. The Xantrex XW Inverter/Charger is a durable, reliable, and economical power conversion solution for solar off-grid and backup power applications.

The new XW Inverter/Charger provides dependable electricity to homes or businesses that experience power outages or do not have access to reliable utility power. Xantrex inverters convert direct current (DC) power from battery storage into reliable alternating current (AC) electricity for use in the home or business. The Xantrex XW design is based on the reliable and popular Xantrex SW Inverter/Charger. Building on the success of the SW, the new XW has valuable improvements, including high quality true sine wave output, surge capacity up to two times the nominal power, programmable auxiliary output and a 60-amp transfer relay.  The XW can be connected in parallel for single phase installations up to 18 kilowatts (kW) and three phase installations up to 36 kW.

The new Xantrex XW Inverter/Charger will be on display in the Xantrex booth at the Conferencia de la Industria Solar in Madrid, Spain from October 23-24, 2008. Xantrex will also present its new range of off-grid and backup power products during a tour of several cities in Spain from October 28 to November 13, 2008.
