BERLIN, GERMANY, September 1, 2008 – Xantrex Technology Inc. (TSX:XTX) announces the launch of its latest products for the European solar power market: the Xantrex Trace Series Inverter/Charger and the Xantrex Communications Gateway monitoring system. The Xantrex Trace Series Inverter/Charger is a durable, reliable, and economical power conversion solution for solar off-grid and backup power applications. The Xantrex Communications Gateway monitoring system is an innovative wireless monitoring solution for small scale solar power installations.
The new Trace Series Inverter/Charger provides dependable electricity for homes or businesses that do not have access to reliable utility power or that experience power outages. Xantrex inverters convert direct current (DC) power from battery storage into reliable alternating current (AC) electricity for use in the home or business. The Xantrex Trace Series design is based on the successful and highly reliable Xantrex DR Series of inverters/chargers. Building on the success of the DR Series, the new Trace platform adds many improvements, including better thermal performance, simplified user controls, corrosion resistant chassis and circuit boards for increased life, and higher surge capacity to start difficult loads.
“A lot of research and planning went into the design of the Trace Series,” said John Wallace, Xantrex CEO. “As the need for off-grid solar and back-up power solutions continues to grow and change, we at Xantrex are continuously improving our capability to ensure our products meet that need.”
The Xantrex Communications Gateway monitoring system is the central communication component of a residential or small commercial solar energy system. The Gateway can monitor a network consisting of up to 20 grid tie (GT) inverters or 8 XW inverter/chargers. The Gateway’s wireless capability keeps the owner informed about the system’s operation and energy production from any location. It logs the system’s performance data directly from the inverters and transmits that information to Yahoo™ Widget based software for straightforward graphics and easy access from any computer.
“The Gateway’s versatile interface makes it easy for owners to get accurate information about their system’s power generation,” said Wallace. “Innovative products like the Gateway reflect Xantrex’s pioneering reputation in the solar market.”
The new Xantrex products will be on display at the Xantrex stand 3D27 (Pavilion 3) at the 23rd European Conference of Photovoltaic and Solar Energy in Valencia, Spain from September 1-4, 2008.
