New Xantrex™ inverters chosen for two Spanish solar installations

VANCOUVER, B.C., April 17, 2008 – Xantrex Technology Inc. (TSX:XTX)  announces that its new Xantrex grid-tie five kilowatt (kW) inverters have been installed in two commercial solar power systems in Spain by Premier Power Renewable Energy, Inc. The Xantrex GT5.0SP Grid-Tie Solar Inverter was launched in Spain in late 2007, and the Premier Power systems are among the first installations to include the new product.

The two Premier Power installations will produce an estimated 153 megawatt hours (MWh) of clean power annually, which will prevent more than 160 metric tonnes of carbon dioxide from being released into the atmosphere. The rooftop installations are located on warehouses in Corella and Tudela in the region of Navarra in northern Spain. The Corella installation is 66 kW and the Tudela system is 54 kW.
The two installations include a total of 20 Xantrex GT5.0SP inverters. Each inverter is connected to 30 General Electric 200-volt polycrystalline solar modules. The Xantrex inverters efficiently convert the direct current (DC) power collected by the solar modules into high-quality alternating current (AC) electricity for delivery to the utility grid.
