Xantrex and Duracell launch Duracell®-branded portable and emergency power products

VANCOUVER, B.C., December 14, 2007 – Xantrex Technology Inc. (TSX:XTX) and Duracell® announce the availability of Duracell®-branded portable and emergency power products for U.S. retailers. The new product lines range from small DC to AC pocket inverters that power electronic gadgets to heavy-duty portable emergency power units for home appliances and automotive applications.
Xantrex has been an innovator in portable and backup power products for nearly 25 years. Duracell®, a leading manufacturer of consumer batteries, is ranked as one of the world’s top brands according to the BusinessWeek/Interbrand 100 Best Global Brands 2007 Report. This combination provides retailers and consumers with high quality products that consumers will instantly recognize.

The 11 products fall into three categories – power packs, inverters, and automotive chargers and jumpstarters. Following are the products with brief descriptions:
Power packs: Three portable power devices that offer up to 600 watts of power on demand.
Duracell PowerSource Mobile 100: Provides users with a portable, rechargeable AC and USB power solution for all mobile needs. It will extend the runtime of a laptop up to two hours, and provide extended runtime to other electronics such as an iPod®, BlackBerry®, video camera, cell phone and more.
Duracell Powerpack 300: Provides users with portable, rechargeable power for almost any emergency situation. With 300 watts of AC power, an LED flashlight, a built-in air compressor and jumper cables to jump-start dead vehicle batteries, the Duracell Powerpack 300 supplies portable power when it is needed most.
Duracell Powerpack 600: Provides 600 watts of portable, rechargeable AC power in a rugged design for both indoor and outdoor use and includes jumper cables, AM/FM radio and digital alarm clock.
Inverters: Five inverters that convert DC power from a vehicle battery into household AC power so users can operate electronics and appliances from a vehicle, boat or RV.
Duracell Inverter 1000 & 1500: Operate electronics, tools and large appliances such as refrigerators, vacuum cleaners, televisions, stereos, drills, jigsaws, computers and more. Simply connect to a vehicle, boat or RV battery, and the highly efficient inverters convert the battery’s DC power to AC power. Both models include two AC outlets, high surge capacity, installation mounting brackets and protection features.
Duracell Pocket Inverter 100 & 175: Charge mobile devices such as a cell phone, iPod®, BlackBerry®, video camera, laptop and more. Simply connect the inverter to a vehicle DC socket and connect devices to the inverter’s AC or USB outlets.
Duracell Digital Inverter 400: Operate mobile electronics such as laptops, cell phones, TVs, portable lights and more. It features 400 watts of AC power and 700 watts surge, digital display technology for instant feedback on power usage, surge protection and two AC outlets.
Automotive battery chargers and jumpstarters: Two Duracell-branded automotive chargers and one jumpstarter that can help jump-start, maintain or charge a vehicle’s battery.
Duracell Instant Jumpstart System: This is the ultimate rechargeable, portable emergency power solution for dead vehicle batteries. The built-in emergency light provides added visibility under the hood, and the reverse-polarity indicator ensures the included jumper cables are correctly connected to the battery terminals.
Duracell 2-amp Battery Maintainer: Ideal for maintaining and extending the life of a vehicle’s batteries. Keeps snowmobile, all terrain vehicle (ATV), motorcycle, personal-watercraft, lawn tractor, car and truck batteries charged so they start when needed.
Duracell 15-amp Battery Charger: Rapidly charges vehicle batteries from ATVs to cars and trucks when their batteries run low.
These power solutions are available online and at select mass and specialty stores nationwide including Target, Camping World and Amazon.com. The products will be on display at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2008 at the Xantrex booth, located at #36038, South Hall 4 of the Las Vegas Convention Center from January 7-10, 2008.
