Xantrex launches weatherproof inverter/charger for marine market

VANCOUVER, B.C., August 2, 2007 – Xantrex Technology Inc. (TSX:XTX) today announced the release of the Xantrex IP1012 AL Inverter/Charger, designed to power household amenities aboard small boats for the North American marine market.  Weatherproof and ignition protected, the Xantrex IP1012 AL Inverter/Charger is a safe, clean, quiet alternative to operating a generator or idling a boat engine to provide power.

The Xantrex IP1012 AL is an industrial-grade, modified sine wave inverter/charger that converts 12-volt DC battery power into standard 120-volt household AC power. The unit allows small boat owners to operate appliances and electronics, of up to 1000 watts, from their onboard battery system. Fully ABYC compliant, the Xantrex IP1012 AL is the ideal solution for powering compact air conditioners, bringing the luxury of air-conditioned cabins to boats under 30 feet in length.

Completely sealed to provide dust and water resistance, the rugged Xantrex IP1012 AL Inverter/Charger is certified for ignition protection, allowing it to be safely mounted in the engine compartment of a small gas-powered boat, freeing up valuable interior cabin space, or mounted in areas exposed to the elements, without the risk of damage to the unit. 

A built-in 50-amp battery charger allows the Xantrex IP1012 AL Inverter/Charger to quickly recharge AGM or flooded battery types to full capacity, in three automatic stages, when connected to shore power. While the batteries are charging, the system seamlessly feeds shore power to any AC loads connected to the unit.
