Xantrex solar inverters to be installed in 450-unit housing development

VANCOUVER, B.C., May 25, 2006 —
Xantrex Technology Inc. (TSX:XTX) GT Series residential grid tie solar inverters have been selected by PowerLight Corporation to supply solar power to a 450-unit housing development in Roseville, California.

PowerLight Corporation, a leading solar system integrator, will install 450 Xantrex GT Series inverters in conjunction with its SunTile solar electric panels to support the electrical needs of the homes. The solar electrical systems will offer homeowners a solution to reduce electrical costs and at the same time reduce emissions from fossil fuel electrical generation.

"We chose Xantrex GT Series inverters for this project because of their reliability, high efficiency and ease of installation," said Kurt Johnson, Director of Operations, Residential Division, PowerLight Corporation. "In addition, the Xantrex inverters are well designed for an unobtrusive and aesthetically pleasing installation on new homes. We are very pleased with Xantrex's support and service."

Developers are seeing an increase in demand for renewable power solutions and are responding by seamlessly integrating solar power systems when building new homes. Home owners can now move into a new home with an established solar power solution eligible for applicable federal and state incentives, to make this clean power system more cost effective.

"Xantrex is proud to be part of this project with PowerLight to provide cost effective, clean, renewable solar power to new homeowners," said John Wallace, Xantrex CEO. "Solar power is an attractive option for new homes and Xantrex’s GT series products are an excellent choice for advanced power electronics because they offer high power density, ease of installation, high efficiency and high reliability.

These homes will be built over the next two years, and once complete, the development will be one of the largest solar powered communities in the United States.
