Can i connect my GT 5.0-SP, to a off grid inverter so that it continues working when the power lines are down ?
I guess the inverter changes over from the grid to the battery inverter as soon as there is a grid failure, and the electric line is routed through the off grid inverter with a changeover relay.
I need this sort of an arrangement as power is switched off almost every day for a few hours and sometimes for days together.
with this arrangement i could get my batteries to last for longer periods as the grid tie would offload the battery inverter to a great extent.
.

Hi --

Is that basically the same schematic for wiring a grid-tied (eg: GT 3)into a XW60 w/battery backup solution?

I'm in process of acquiring an 9 kw system (grid-tied with small battery array), using a xw60 plus a GT. I know I can wire 2 xw60s together in series, but I don't plan to have many loads in my critical-loads panel, and this cuts down on some of the costs.

Goal: be able to use 100% of my panels when the grid is down.

Thanks!

The problem arises when you have a small battery bank, and your large loads shut off, the batteries recharge very quickly, and you have to dump power somewhere, with no grid to absorb it. You need a way to shut down your GT, after you've faked it into running.
